What are the costs?
Each week of unlimited classes ranges roughly between $20-$40, this depends slightly on the age and class time. This covers your chosen regular weekly class time, annual membership for insurances/memberships that cover you & your rank.
Gradings for Karate are available up to 3 times per year at the cost of $45 for Karate, Kickboxing is up to 2 times per year $45 each time. The Grading fee covers the Grading and materials (there is never any need to pay more than the initial Grading fee if the student fails or wishes to resit the Grading).
Occasionally the costs of tournaments vary depending on the occasion. Our own Club annual tournament is a low fee yet to be determined.
Access to the training & video resources are part of regular training fee packages.
Any fees can be pro rata discounted if required.
Any fees paid in the past will always be honoured - if you’re a past student then we can look to honour any credit you’ve had in the past.
Equipment can be found in the Club shop page.
No student is charged more for attending more classes, the price structure is based on minimum one class per week.
There are no hidden fees.
There is no minimum term.
There is no cancellation fee.
There are no administration fees.
There are no compulsory training fees.
You’ll never be told if you don’t attend a workshop or training seminar you cannot Grade.
what age can I join?
Kids can try out as young as 3 years old.
I’ve trained before, can i wear my belt or do i wear a white belt?
As this is an individual thing and everyones efforts, skills and knowledge are different, you will have to ask Sensei. In some cases, you can wear your existing belt and get tested in each stage up to your existing rank, whilst training as that rank for the time being.
What happens in a class?
The class content varies each week and builds on the previous week. If someone misses a class they can follow along online. Generally we start with a group chat, warm ups, bow in, drills, forms (kata), pad work and group exercises focusing on self defence depending on the students level and finishing with a game aimed at increasing the students reflexes, focus, awareness and teamwork.
Do you teach weapons?
As Sensei Steve has had the pleasure in attending traditional Dojo for weapons training, I refuse to try teach my Karate (unarmed) and self-defence students something which culturally and ethically doesn’t belong to me or my business.
So I make it my focus regarding weapons to stick to teaching self-defence against batons, sticks, poles, knives and glass… Instead of cultural appropriation.
